Chamomile | Apigenin and bisabolol

Chamomile | Apigenin and bisabolol

Apigenin and alpha-bisabolol are major chemical compounds naturally present in the chamomile flower (Matricaria chamomilla).

Molecular medicine trials have shown apigenin to demonstrate strong chemopreventive effects (i.e. prevents or reduces the risk of cancer development) while bisabolol is known to have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as reducing pepsin secretion without altering the secretion of stomach acids when consumed orally.

Bisabolol has a light but sweet floral scent and is used in various fragrances.  It has also been used for hundreds of years in cosmetic applications because of its well-known skin healing properties; it is known to have anti-irritant, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties.  Bisabolol also enhances the percutaneous absorption of molecular serums and skin treatments.

Chamomile has been used traditionally to topically treat inflammations such as those associated with haemorrhoids, and also when mixed into teas and other herbal drink concoctions, in the treatment of stress and insomnia.  Chamomile serves well as an emollient in skin care, and is prized for its anti-inflammatory effects.

Due to its many obvious medicinal benefits, LIVING PROOF utilises German chamomile extract as a natural anti-inflammatory soothing agent in products such as:
